Cost Profile Dialog

This dialog is used to setup how DairyLive should compute the cost of maintaining your herd. You get to this dialog by selecting Setup Cost Profile from the Tools menu.

The cost profile contains cost items. Each item describes how to compute a cost for one day. These cost items can apply to all animals, only to young production animals (calves for dairy), only to young pre-fresh animals, only to dry animals (between lactations), only to fresh animals, or only to meat animals. Furthermore, for most of these groups, you can specify an age range for which to apply the cost. For example, for very young calves (up to 60 days) you may want to compute a daily cost of $1.75 and for older calves (up to 12 months) you may want to apply a cost of $2.25.

DairyLive provides a number of animal properties that you can add to any check list or report that computes your animal costs. These costs can be computed for year-to-date, month-to-date, last 30 days, etc. See Check Lists to learn how to add these properties to a check list.

This dialog contains a list of current periodic costs items. To add a new cost item, click on the Add button. To change an existing item, select it and click on Edit. You can also delete an item by selecting it and clicking on Delete.

The check box, "Include costs for events", can be checked if you want DairyLive to also add in the cost of events when computing an animal's total cost. If this is not checked, event costs are not included in the computations.
