Event Type Dialog
This dialog is used for setting up
an event type. To get to this dialog, click on an Event Type
group on the left side of the Herd Explorer. Then double-click on
an event type on the right side.
An event type is like a
"template" for a real event or reminder. An example of
an event type is Breeding. You can define the following for an
event type:
- Event Type Name
- Additional Event Information
- Resulting Reminders
- Resulting Movement
DairyLive comes with several event
types already defined. (See Event Types.) You can define additional ones or modify the
existing ones.
- Event Type Name
- This is the name of this type
of event. It can be up to 20 characters long. Use
something short but descriptive.
- Cost
- Enter the cost of this event.
This value is used for computing costs for both billing
profiles and the herd cost profile. Billing profiles are
used for custom heifer raising. See Billing
Profile dialog and
Cost Profile dialog.
-
- NOTE: The value you enter
here is the "default" value that will appear
when you enter an actual event. You will still have an
opportunity to change this value when entering an event.
- Additional Event
Information
- This table shows the
additional information fields that will be presented to
you when you add an actual event. To add a new field,
click the Add button, and to delete a field, select it
and then press the Delete button. To change a field,
select it and press the Edit button. When you press Add
or Edit, the Additional Event Information dialog will be presented.
- Resulting Reminders
- This table shows the types of
reminders that will be added to the herd database
whenever you add an event of this type. You can add,
delete, or change any of these by pressing the Add,
Delete, or Edit buttons. When you press Add or Edit, the Event
Reminder dialog
will be presented.
-
- Resulting Movement
- If you click this checkbox and select a
group name from the drop-down list, DairyLive will automatically move an
animal to that group whenever an event of this type is entered. For
example, when entering a Dry-Off event, the cow is automatically moved to
the Dry Pen group.
-
- Miscellaneous
- If you check this box, select a type of event
that should be used as a "cut off" for showing this event in
check lists. For example, the Confirmed Pregnant event is not generally
meaningful if it occurred before the last Calving event, so, for
the Confirmed Pregnant event type, you would select the Calving event type
here.
